An Epiphany Prayer

A prayer for the day of Epiphany, by Karl Barth:

Lord our God, we thank you that we can gather together in this hour, to call on you, to bring everything that moves us before you, together to hear the joyful message of the world’s salvation, to glorify you.

Come to us now! Awaken us! Give us your light! Be our Teacher and Comforter! Speak to each of us, so that we may hear just what we need and what will help us!

And so, be gracious to all others everywhere who have gathered together as your community! Preserve them and us by your Word! Protect them and us from hypocrisy, error, boredom, and distraction! Give them and us knowledge and hope, a clear witness, and joyful hearts, through Jesus Christ, our Lord. Amen.
